Kai Love (they/he)

I believe that every single being is worthy of love and thriving in the here and now, and that we each have a responsibility to ensure this can happen both for ourselves and collectively.

I am a goofy, joyful, deeply loving, spiritual being who is invested in being a part of building a world that centers liberation in all forms. I ground into this vision in every facet of my life in the here and now and it’s this vision that serves as the roots of how I work with others.

My lifelong obsession with self-growth and holding space for others plus my background of teaching dance and yoga has led me to the work I do today. I became aware that dominant culture does not support our humanity and ability to thrive, especially for marginalized folks, around the age of five. I’ve always known myself to not fit into the status quo of society, which all made even more sense once I realized I was queer and more so later when I realized I was trans.

It is through my multi-faceted experiences as a human, NOT JUST MY CREDENTIALS, that deeply inform and qualify me to work with others in the ways that I do.

Okay, now that that’s been said, here are the credentials: First and foremost, I’ve been in therapy since 2010 (the work I’ve done in therapy has DEEPLY informed the ways I support others!) and in deep anti-racism and anti-oppression practices since 2019. I have been facilitating what I like to call equity-inclusion + collective healing work since 2020 and supporting business owners and organizations in many different ways since 2021. I am absolutely thrilled to have arrived in the ways I work with others now (it’s been a hell of a ride, y’all), and feel that every part of my journey has prepared me for this moment.

I have been honored to support many non-profit organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals in their equity-inclusion efforts (Portland Public Schools, Advocacy Unlimited, Toivo, Copper Beech Institute to name a few!) as well as join a badass collective of changemakers to offer trainings multiple times a year and to write a book with (in the works!). I have also supported non-profits and individual changemakers in growing their businesses in ways that center their values, which has led to the Humanity First framework that I use to work with others today.

All of the work that I do is rooted in the ongoing collective vision we have for a liberatory world. I would love to support you on your journey to being a part of this vision!

Here’s what you can expect when working with me:

Your humanity will be honored…first and foremost.

I believe we have to love ourselves into who we want to be (quoted from a framework called assumptions that Michelle C. Johnson has been a part of creating) and so whenever accountability is needed in any way, it will be done through the lens of love and never through the lens of shame. We get enough of that out there, ya know?

I will hold space for depth and vulnerability.

I believe that is only through deep connections that we build with one another that allow for sustainable change to be able to happen. Being held in community and building relationships is the very foundation of the way that I operate in the world and work with others. My hope is that as we build our relationship in working together, in time it will create the trust and safety needed for depth and vulnerability to be able to fuel whatever change(es) is needed.

Your body’s cues will be seen, listened to, and tended to.

I believe our somatic cues guide the way. In whatever capacity we work together, this will be a guiding force in our time together.
